Your personal guide will greet you at your Huangshan hotel or Huangshan Train Station, holding the board with "Huangshan Private Tour" on it. Then escort you to visit the Qiyun Mountains.
Qiyun mountain, 33 kilometers to the west of Huangshan City (Tunxi), gets its name "Qiyun" (as-high-as-the-cloud mountain) because the top of the mountain is even with the clouds. Qiyun Mountain has 36 steep peaks, 44 oddly shaped stones, 18 tranquil caves, 27 waterfall caves of springs, 14 pools, 16 pavilions, 537 inscriptions and stone tablets, 3 stone decorated archways, 5 stone bridges and 33 temples and monasteries. Listed by the State Council in 1994 as one of the cultural relics sites under the national protection.
After driving for about 40 minutes to reach the foothill, we'll be hiking up mountain for about 2 hours.
When you get to the top of the mountain, you will arrive at the first stop: Fascinating Places and Happy Lands (Dong tian fu di). Include the three cliff inscriptions (inscriptions on the Qizhen Cliff, the Zhonglie Cliff and the Shouzi Cliff). It is said that the Qizhen Cliff was once the earliest place for Taoist practice on Qiyun mountain. There are in total 18 tranquil caves, which used to be places for Taoist priest to practice. You can choose some of them to explore according to your preference.
Then, move on to the Yuehua Street. Yuehua street is not only the place where Taoists and mountain residents live, but also the place where pilgrims and tourists live. Yuehua street has many Huizhou style houses. They form a dense building complex with palace, temple and courtyard houses. You can feel a different atmosphere from the ordinary old street or market here. If you lucky enough, you may also see local residents gather to practice Tai Chi, or you may join them.
In the afternoon, take cable car down to the mountain, then drive you back to your hotel in Huangshan or train station.
